Under the Patronage of Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Al Hekma International School held the virtual walkathon “Walk to Achieve!”.
In alignment with the commands of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), to organize virtual sports events on the Bahraini National Sports Day, Al Hekma International School organized the Virtual Walkathon that started on Tuesday February 9th ,2021 till the end of the month under the patronage of His Excellency Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayad, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs.
A heartfelt & sincere appreciation to H.E Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayad, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, all parents, students, staff & sponsors who supported, participated and contributed to the huge success of this first of its kind initiative in the kingdom of Bahrain.
The initial goal was to reach 350,000 steps but AHIS participants reached more than 10 million steps, this huge success is something to be proud of which also comes in alignment with the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the school.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs said, “We seek in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs to encourage male and female students to practice sports regularly because of its health, mental and physical benefits, which is consistent with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in making sports a lifestyle for the Bahraini community and amidst the interest of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his directives in intensifying various sports activities and harnessing technology for the implementation of sports programs remotely on the National Sports Day. ”
H.E Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayad continued, “We praise the good efforts of Al Hekma International School aimed to providing quality programs for its students that contribute to raising awareness of the importance of sports and adopting healthy lifestyles. This is an important event that contributes to maximizing the role of students and spreading the culture of practicing sport among them.”
On the other hand, Dr. Mona Rashid Al-Zayani, President of Al Hekma International School, expressed her overwhelming cheerfulness with the establishment of this virtual event, as it encourages students, teachers and parents to participate in the competition, and it highlights the importance of physical activity in the various segments of Bahraini society.
